Dynamo Windrad
In 1982, recreational soccer players from Kassel founded a sports club. Football should be played, without excessive ambition, with a high understanding of fair play and fun.
The name for this club was quickly found: Dynamo Windrad Kassel - "a little leftwing and a little alternative",as it says in a report by the Hessian broadcasting company. However, the Hessian Football Association put a stop to the peaceful hustle and bustle. The name "Dynamo is too similar to the practices of the clubs of the GDR and the Eastern Bloc countries ..."
This was followed by a naming ban, court rulings, revisions and a nationwide press response on the occasion of the North Hessian provincial farce.
Parallel to the march through the authorities, Dynamo Windrad familiarized itself with the customs of the Eastern Bloc by traveling to the USSR, the GDR, Cuba and China. In addition to exploring the cultural and social customs, as well as visiting tourist attractions, there were always football games against the respective state amateurs on the program. As a good guest, Dynamo traditionally returned to Kassel with great defeats in their luggage.
Dynamo Windrad is now officially allowed to participate in league operations. In addition to football, sport in every imaginable form is now practiced in over 20 departments. The focus here is still on having fun as well as personal and cultural exchange. But in contrast to many other sports clubs, art and politics continue to play a central role in the club's work and its environment. So if you want to see a team winning, come with us and celebrate with the opponent.
